Recorded a few months before FORMAT.HQ officially launched—coinciding with my first anniversary DJing under this name. About 90% of the tracklist comes from producers across Asia, with the remaining 10% drawing on tracks that feature East-Asian instrumentation. It’s my perspective on what “roots” looks and feels like. I hope NTS can carry these sounds from Asia to listeners worldwide.

Electronic music may have arrived here from elsewhere, but it has blossomed on this continent. There are so many talented artists active in Asia who aren’t always seen or heard. That’s why I started FORMAT.HQ—to make our work visible globally.

ABOUT ARTIST



Replica is a multidisciplinary creative force in Asia’s underground music scene, seamlessly blending his roles as a DJ/producer, visual designer, and promoter to build a unique digital aesthetic. Under his visual art alias, Replica.psd, he creates a surreal digital world, while as Replica.mp3, he explores new club music styles through deconstruction and reassembly. He also runs FORMAT.HQ, a label and platform spotlighting participants in the Asian underground.


His DJ sets blend the bass-heavy UK tracks with the energetic rhythms of Club Trax, balancing the rawness of Grime with the catchy melodies of Hyperpop. His visual art is deeply integrated into his musical projects, creating a complete sensory experience that pushes the boundaries of the East Asian underground scene with bold track selections and fresh aesthetics.


As a key figure in China’s club culture, Replica has provided visual direction for avant-garde artists such as Shelhiel and YoungQueenz and curated standout club events. He has performed across China and supported international acts such as Florentino, Jun Inagawa, and Evita Manji on their China tours.
